A Lesson in Thankfulness

As promised I am going to share a few touching memories from our trip to the Dominican Republic. On the first day that we arrived we had the opportunity to have lunch at the home of a church member in the village of Villa Hermosa. In this village most average families make no more than 3 dollars a month. They live on around 150 dollars a year and only eat once a day because they can not afford more food. To be able to share in one of there precious meals was a very touching memory. We were served out of the only two dishes the family of four owned. The rest of the family ate out of tin cups and bowls. It was so amazing that even though they had very little to give they were willing to give the best that they had even though it was nothing. it was so touching to see them smiling and thankful that we were there working for them. In a way they seemed so much happier than many people living in the United States that have everything right at there fingertips and still complain. As I sit on the computer in a warm house with Internet, electricity, enough food to each three times a day, and running water. As a lesson for all of us, think about everything you have to be thankful for, and the next time you start complaining that something isn't just right remember the things you do have and pray for the people that are not so fortunate.
